Pioneering African American Legal Excellence Across Texas

From the bustling streets of Houston and Dallas to the vibrant communities of San Antonio, Fort Worth, Austin, and El Paso, the African American Lawyers Section (AALS) has been championing the rights and professional growth of black attorneys since 1992. As the leading association for African American attorneys in Texas, we are dedicated to creating a legacy that not only reverberates across state lines but also resonates nationally.

A Proud Legacy: Over Three Decades of Legal Excellence

Since our inception in 1992, the African American Lawyers Section (AALS) has been a beacon of empowerment and collaboration for African American attorneys in Texas and beyond. Established to address the unique challenges faced by black lawyers, our mission has consistently emphasized justice, racial equity, and civil rights. Rooted deeply in cities like Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and Fort Worth, AALS has grown to become a national nexus, championing the cause of equity in the legal arena. Beyond mere representation, we've advocated for systemic change, making AALS a trusted name for individuals and entities seeking the best black attorneys. As today unfolds, our legacy stands as a testament to dedication, unity, and the pursuit of legal excellence.

Welcome from Our Chair!

Hello Esteemed Members and Future Leaders,

I am honored and excited to serve as your Chair for the 2024-2025 bar year for the African American Lawyers Section (AALS) of the State Bar of Texas. My journey from the West Texas Panhandle to Principal and Managing Attorney of Archie Law PLLC has been fueled by a commitment to excellence, justice, and community service. This year, I bring this dedication to our shared mission at AALS.

Our goal is to provide robust support to our members across Texas. We will focus on creating more opportunities for professional development, expanding access to critical resources, and fostering a vibrant community where every voice is heard and valued.

As a member of several key bar associations, I understand the importance of networking and collaboration. This year, we will strengthen our ties with local and national organizations, ensuring that our members have the connections and support they need to thrive.

Through my work with various organizations and associations, I have seen firsthand the transformative power of mentorship and education. We will continue to build on this foundation, offering programs and initiatives that support young African American men and women as they navigate their legal careers.

I am committed to promoting diversity and inclusion within our profession. We will work tirelessly to ensure that our legal community reflects the rich diversity of our society and that every member has the opportunity to succeed.

Together, we will chart a course towards greater impact and influence. Let us embrace this opportunity to make a difference, not just for ourselves but for the generations of legal professionals who will follow in our footsteps.

Thank you for your continued dedication and support. I look forward to working with each of you to elevate our community to new heights.

In Unity and Service,

Nekketta M. Archie, Esq.
